This service includes minor tip repair or straightening and removal of small "normal use" chips in the blade. More significant repairs will incur a small upcharge and will be discussed in advance.
Serrated knives that need the scallops reground will incur a small additional fee, this will be discussed in advance. See repairs section below for details.
Steak knives are done at a flat rate unless the scallops need to be reground which will incur a small up charge.
This service provides a very sharp but "toothy" edge, and can be done with flat bevels or as a convex edge upon request.
This service provides a very high polished, angle-controlled edge for high end hunting and EDC knives, typically ones with blades made of one of the various "super steels". This will be a hair popping "show off" type of edge.
Some blades require a finer touch. For these we offer a hand sharpening service. We use a combination of diamond plates and Shapton Glass Stones depending on the project and steel type. The level of polish on the edge can be adjusted to your needs up to a .25 micron mirror polish.
Filing the rakers on the chainsaw chain will incur a small additional charge if this is necessary.
This includes sharpening and minor tip repairs, heavy repairs will be an additional charge and will be discussed in advance. Unless otherwise requested machetes are always done with a convex edge profile for additional strength.
Mower blades with complicated curvatures (some mulching blades) will incur a small up charge.
This includes kitchen shears, fabric shears and utility/craft scissors. No clippers or beauty shears at this time.
Minor tip repairs are included in the base price listed. This is for repairs of more significant damage where the tip is broken off or badly bent.
For knives that have seen significant use over the years and have worked the edge up into the thicker parts of the blade, thinning may be necessary to bring the performance back to an acceptable point.
For blades that have significant rust or scratching we do offer refinishing options.
Over time and with numerous sharpenings serrated knives can lose depth in the scallops and become ineffective. We can recut those by hand in these instances.
